Committee
Reports:
Administration: Bill O’Donnell. The President noted that
further activities toward acquiring property will be deferred
until Larry Konopka returns in the spring. As to the
Information Booth, Jack Witt took care of the Holiday
decorations, and has removed the awnings for the winter.
Member
Services: Although absent, Myrna sent along the report
that she has arranged the catering for the two summer
dinners. Ed will see about reserving the VFW hall. As to
programs, for tentative programs, Karen Way is to contact Bill
and Sue Bainton about a talk on Pentwater Yacht Club’s 75th
Anniversary. Ed will contact Jim Kelly, Mears State Park
manager, about a talk on the history of the park.
Museum:
Bob Childers reported no activity on the part of the Committee.
Old
Business: No old business was discussed.
New
Business: Township Cemetery Advisory Board member Jim
Ege expressed concern that the Board might decide not to sustain
and upgrade the Cemetery web-site, due to possible lack of user
interest. The Pentwater Historical Society wishes to record its
support for the Township to create a search-engine for the
Township Cemetery records. In conjunction with this, the
Society would then link its web-site to help facilitate access
by the Society and the public. It was noted that requests for
information on cemetery records are a frequent occurrence for
the Society.
Jim Ege also
asked about Society participation in a project to sort and file
the photos and negatives of photographer Bruce Bates, including
some old glass-plate negatives of the Village. Although the
members indicated that it was a most worthy project, no action
was taken, nor anticipated, until more details on the project
are presented.
Meeting
adjourned at 2:45.
Next
meeting date: April 6th, 2011.
Respectfully
submitted,
Jim Alfredson,
Secretary
